MISSION:
The Special Operations Warrior Foundation’s enduring promise to America’s Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps Special Operations Personnel is to honor the fallen, and all Medal of Honor Recipients, by providing full educations and additional opportunities, “cradle to career” (preschool – college), to their children, ensuring:
(1) Comprehensive educational support including, but not limited to, academic advocacy, preschool and private school grants, tutoring, support for students with disabilities, college readiness programs, full financial assistance for up to a four-year post-secondary degree, access to our college to career transitions program, a commitment to cover educational costs for the surviving children of Special Operations Personnel whose spouses perish while the Special Operator is actively serving, while providing a variety of other practical programs and services.
(2) Provide immediate financial grants to severely combat-wounded, ill, and injured Special Operations Personnel who require hospitalization.
EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT:
The Special Operations Warrior Foundation is committed to ensuring student success in all they do through the following programs:
- Preschool Funding: Up to $8,000 per year for surviving children ages 2-5 for preschool programs.
- Private Tutoring: Unlimited private tutoring funding for all students (kindergarten through college graduation)
- Students with Disabilities: Tools, support, and advocacy for children with disabilities who cannot participate in other educational programs offered by SOWF.
- Private School Tuition Assistance: Up to $5,000 per student, per year, kindergarten – 12th grade.
- College Planning: College planning workshops for high school students, funding for college visits and access to an online College Success Academy.
- College Scholarship: Funding to school of student’s choice, including tuition, books, fees, room & board, transportation, and miscellaneous expenses, plus a laptop and printer.
- College-to-Career Transition: Personalized coaching, mentoring, and career prep programs – at no cost to students – as well as funding to support internships (travel and relocation expenses).
CURRENT SOWF NUMBERS SINCE 1980 (NUMBERS CURRENT AS OF JAN, 23’)
- Warrior Fatalities: 1,225
- Over 1,200 Special Operations Warriors have lost their lives since 1980.
- Children Eligible: 1,034
- SOWF is currently committed to funding the education for over 1,000 children of fallen Special Operations Warriors and children of all Medal of Honor Recipients.
- College Graduates: 481
- Over 475 children have graduated college through the support of SOWF funding and dedicated partnerships with the Scholarships & Family Outreach team.
- Wounded: 1,210
- SOWF provides immediate financial assistance to severely wounded, ill, and injured Special Operations Warriors requiring hospitalization.
- Surviving Children:
- There are over 1,600 surviving children of fallen Special Operations Warriors since 1980.
