Race Director report for 2025

Ken’s 2025 Arrowhead Thoughts and Awards:
  • Our volunteers did an amazing job, it seemed like everything was taken care of with a smile. Many of them traveled from out of state to be part of the family known as Arrowhead. Many of our volunteers have been helping us for more than 10 years. We will be donating $100 to the Koochiching County Food shelf on behalf of the Arrowhead Volunteers.
  • Racers continue to impress me with their endurance, speed, and compassion. If you gave it your best shot, you have my deep respect.
  • My wife Jackie is amazing, she takes care of all of the behind the scenes details and has a knack for remembering everything.
  • Thanks to our generous sponsors for helping to keep our race affordable, safe, and fun and providing us with great gear, food and services.
  • We were thankful to have former Arrowhead Race Directors Pierre Ostor and Dave Pramann join us as well as Chris Scotch from Tuscobia Winter Ultra (he completed the Arrowhead A’trois unsupported this year), JayP and T-Race from Fat Pursuit, Jamison and Lisa from St Croix Winter Ultra, along with a strong contingent from Winnipeg (Acif Epica).
  • Each Year we give out a Spirit of the Arrowhead Award ($100 donated to charity of choice) to somebody who exemplifies the Arrowhead spirit. This year we are giving out 3 awards.
Jay Giddings – Jay raced unsupported in 2025. One of our snowmobile volunteers witnessed Jay pulling 2 sleds (for miles) and pushing his own near the finish line to try to help 2 other racers make it to the finish line. This occurred after Jay had been on the trail for over 2 days with no help getting water, food, or warmth. Jay is also our Shackleton Endrance award winner ($100 donation to charity of choice).
Joe Dean – Joe was diagnosed with cancer after 2024 Arrowhead. He completed treatment and was a finisher in 2025.
Charly Tri – Charly missed 2024 Arrowhead due to having open heart surgery (a pretty flimsy excuse if you ask me). He shared his story at our pre-race meeting and was a 2025 racer and vows to be back in 2026.
